About The Travelling Shrink
The Travelling Shrink is Andre Stewart.
Andre is a highly skilled and well-experienced social worker with an emphasis in mental health. He has experience as a social worker and clinician both within Australia and overseas and in challenging environments, including but not limited to the work with the Department of Human Services / Child Protection and in the Northern Territory.
Andre obtained his Bachelors degree from Texas Christian University, double-majoring in Social Work and Biology. When he moved to Australia, he worked with the Department of Human Services / Child Protection and as a disability case manager in the Government / Community sector.
In 2009 Andre obtained his Masters Degree in Social Work from the University of Melbourne. As part of his degree he undertook a 3 month placement at Alice Springs Hospital in the palliative care unit.
Following the completion of his Masters Degree, Andre gained employment with St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne, where he worked for almost four years before taking up a position with Latrobe Regional Hospital in Gippsland, country Victoria. Andre holds a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, which enables him to present continuing professional education and in-house training.
Andre has a passion for mental health and helping young people. This is evident through his decision to further his knowledge and education in this area by becoming a candidate in the Masters of Mental Health Science degree at Monash University and the Masters of Youth Mental Health at the University of Melbourne.
Andre is also a qualified personal trainer, swim teacher and lifeguard. He enjoys playing and watching many sports and played (American) college football whilst studying in Texas, USA. In cricket, he cannot go past his beloved West Indies.
